Starting as early as June, the Ada County Highway District (ACHD) will start construction on the Cynthia Mann Elementary Enhanced Pedestrian Crossing project. The purpose of this project is to improve safety and increase connectivity for students traveling to Cynthia Mann Elementary School. Construction is expected to be complete by late summer 2026.*

Project Description

  • Install a raised crosswalk with a rectangular rapid flashing beacon (RRFB) on Castle Drive in front of Cynthia Mann Elementary School.
  • Add a bulb-out on the north side of Castle Drive to shorten the pedestrian crossing and increase safety.
  • Install green stormwater treatment facilities.

Construction Impacts

  • A temporary traffic signal will be installed on Castle Drive between Northwall Avenue and Turret Way
  • Pedestrian detours and sidewalk closures
  • Lane restrictions with flaggers
  • General construction noise, dust, equipment backup alarms and ground vibration
  • Crews will work from 7 a.m. to 7 p.m. unless otherwise approved
  • The contractor will work with property owners to minimize impacts
