A crash involving power lines has caused closures and a loss of power in the area of Garden and Alpine Street. At this time, emergency crews, Idaho Power crews, as well as ACHD crews, are on-site. Please avoid the area while crews respond.

What happened:

This afternoon, a dump truck belonging to the contractor working on the Garden Street project was involved in a crash on Garden Street, near Alpine Street. The crash resulted in damage to about six power poles and a loss of power to several homes in the area, as well as the traffic signal at Franklin and Orchard Streets. The signal is now operational and will run on generators until power is restored.

Crews from the Boise Fire Department, Boise Police Department, Idaho Power and ACHD are on-site. Idaho Power expects to restore power by 10pm tonight. Residents can get updated power outage information on Idaho Power's website.

Alpine Street is currently closed between Vinson Street (just west of Garden) and Roosevelt Street. Garden Street is closed between Tabitha Street (just north of the railroad tracks) and Richardson Street (south of Alpine). These closures will be in place while repairs are made.

At this time, we do not anticipate a delay in the project, which is in its final stages. ACHD will send a updates on road closures and other project information as more information becomes available.
