Roosevelt Street, Rose Hill to Emerald Street
This project is substantially complete.
The original Roosevelt Street, Rose Hill to Emerald Street project started design in 2015 and since then ACHD has modified the design to incorporate improved bicycle and pedestrian facilities. Please see below for an updated description of the project.
Roosevelt, Rose Hill to Alpine
- Construct new curb, gutter and sidewalk on both sides of the street where necessary.
- Add bike lanes to both sides of the street.
- Construct a raised intersection at Roosevelt and Alpine to slow drivers. The intersection will also include a Rectangular Rapid Flashing Beacon (RRFB) to alert drivers to pedestrians using the crosswalk on Roosevelt.
Roosevelt, Alpine to Emerald
- Construct a multi-use pathway for bicyclists and pedestrians on the east side of the street. The section along the Morris Hill Cemetery will include an extruded curb.
- Add curb, gutter and sidewalk on the west side of the street.
- Paint a bike box and bike crossing on Roosevelt at Fairmont Street to provide a path for bicyclists to enter/exit the multi-use pathway.
Existing on-street parking will be maintained on the west side of Roosevelt.
Commuters are reminded to obey all road closure signs and follow the signs along the detour route. Commuters should never attempt to drive, bike, or walk on closed portions of the road, regardless of whether there appears to be active construction. It is unlawful to move or manipulate construction signs and doing so can put commuters and construction workers at great risk.
