The Ada County Highway District (ACHD) is starting the 15th and 16th Street Concept Study to look at ways to make the streets better for everyone.

The 15th Street and 16th Street corridors between Shoreline Drive and Fort Street are currently one-way streets, each with three lanes. Both 15th Street and 16th Street include a combination of substandard on-street bike lanes, sharrows, and separated bike lanes on one side of the roadway with attached and detached sidewalks on both sides.

This study will include reviewing the existing conditions, seeking public feedback and identifying alternatives.

As part of the study, ACHD will:

  • Check the road condition to see what repairs are needed.
  • Review sidewalks and bike lanes on both sides of the street.
  • Replace the underground bridge structure on 16th Street, south of Franklin.
  • Study key intersections and crossings to see how they can be improved.
