2023 Microseal

This project is substantially complete. 

Beginning as early as June, crews will be working overnight to apply a microseal overlay on various streets in Downtown Boise. The microseal process involves cleaning the existing asphalt and then applying a fast-drying asphalt-based sealant. Roadways are microsealed to protect them from water and weather damage, so they stay in good condition. Construction is anticipated to end in late October.* This project also includes reallocating travel lane and bike lane facilities and installing vertical elements in bike lane buffer spaces along select portions of 15th and 16th Streets.

  • Idaho Street, 16th Street to Broadway Avenue
  • 16th Street, Front Street to State Street
  • Bannock Street, 16th Street to 15th Street
  • Bannock Street, 9th Street to 2nd Street
  • 15th Street, Front Street to State Street

What to expect during microseal

  • All microseal work will occur at night (8 p.m. to 5 a.m.)
  • Through traffic and on-street parking will be restricted at night while crews are microsealing each road
  • Access will be maintained for businesses, hotels, and residents
  • Flaggers and signage will direct traffic in the areas where crews are applying the microseal and at adjacent intersections
  • Temporary closures
