Starting as early as June, the Ada County Highway District (ACHD) will start construction on the Adams Street, 42nd Street to 43rd Street Rectangular Rapid Flashing Beacon (RRFB) Relocation. The purpose of this project is to enhance safety and improve traffic flow. Construction is expected to be completed in early August of 2024.*

In 2014, ACHD installed the rectangular rapid flashing (RRFB) at Adams Street and 42nd Street to aid Anser Charter School students in reaching the Boys and Girls Club and the Greenbelt. With recent changes in school access and the opening of Future Public School at 43rd Street, pedestrian traffic patterns have shifted. Moving the enhanced crossing westward by one block accommodates both schools' walking routes and moves the enhanced crossing further from the busy signal at Veterans Memorial Parkway.

Project Description

  • Relocate the existing rectangular rapid flashing beacon (RRFB) from 42nd Street to 43rd Street
  • Repair adjacent pedestrian ramps to ensure they meet full accessibility requirements

*Due to high demand for contractors, labor and supplies, the construction schedules may change.

Construction Impacts

  • Temporary road closures
  • Pedestrian detours and sidewalk closures
  • Lane restrictions with flaggers
  • General construction noise, dust, equipment backup alarms and ground vibration
  • Crews will work from 7 a.m. to 7 p.m. unless otherwise approved
  • The contractor will work with property owners to minimize impacts
