ACHD is working with the City of Boise, Boise State University, and other area stakeholders to identify improvements for Capitol Boulevard from Vista Avenue to the Greenbelt. The goal is to improve conditions for people walking and biking on Capitol Boulevard while maintaining access to local businesses and minimizing impacts to motor vehicles.

Shared-Use Path Concept

Multiple alternatives were evaluated in 2015 and based on public feedback and technical criteria, the shared-use path concept was identified as the preferred concept.

Proposed Improvements

  • Below is a list of the key improvements being proposed for the corridor. Check out the information online to learn about other improvements and further details.
  • Add shared-use pathways along the corridor
  • Install additional pedestrian crossings
  • Realign the Crescent Rim Drive approach to Capitol Boulevard
  • Modify the Boise Avenue intersection with University Drive/Capitol Boulevard
  • Reconfigure motor vehicle lanes in key areas

    The ACHD Commissioners will consider possible adoption of the Capitol Boulevard Concept Design on January 25, 2023. The study team will be recommending the ACHD Commission move forward with adopting the Shared-Use Path Concept.


    The meeting will begin at 6 p.m.; however, this project is one of several agenda items and may not be the first item discussed. ACHD staff will make a brief presentation followed by an opportunity for public comment before the Commission acts.

    There are several ways to participate in the meeting:

    January 25, 2023 | 6 P.M.

    • In-person - Join us at 3775 Adams Street in the Auditorium.
    • Virtually - The meeting will be live-streamed and members of the public who wish to watch and ask questions can do so using Zoom. Meeting log in information can be found here.
