Eckert Road Bridge and Intersection Project
Eckert Road is an important corridor helping people get to nearby neighborhoods, Barber Park, the Greenbelt, and the Boise River. To make travel safer and easier, ACHD is planning several improvements in this area.
The project includes building a new Boise River Bridge that will serve everyone—drivers, walkers, and bikers—for many years. ACHD will also build a new bridge over the Ridenbaugh Canal and add a roundabout at the Boise Avenue and Eckert Road intersection.
The project is on an accelerated schedule due to the aging bridge structures and construction is anticipated to begin Fall 2026.
Project Highlights
- Construct new bridges over the Boise River and Ridenbaugh Canal.
- Add a multi-use pathway for pedestrians and bicyclists on the west side of Eckert Road between the Greenbelt and Boise Avenue.
- Add a greenbelt tunnel under Eckert Road to connect the existing and future Greenbelt and the Dallas Harris Legacy Walkway.
- Update the Barber Park driveway access.
- Construct a single-lane roundabout at Boise Avenue and Eckert Road.
ACHD has coordinated with local, state, and national agencies and conservation easement holders to avoid or mitigate impacts to wetlands, wildlife, and conservation easements.
