This project is substantially complete.

This summer, the Ada County Highway District (ACHD) will start construction on the Fairview Avenue and Orchard Street intersection. This is a community improvement project which includes replacing the pedestrian poles with an Accessible Pedestrian Signal (APS), compatible push buttons, and upgraded pedestrian ramps. Construction is anticipated to be complete in the fall of 2022.

What are APS?

Accessible Pedestrian Signals (APS) communicate information about the WALK/DON'T WALK intervals in non-visual formats (i.e. audible tones and vibrating surfaces) to pedestrians who are blind or have low vision.

Commuters are reminded to obey all road closure signs and follow the signs along the detour route. Commuters should never attempt to drive, bike, or walk on closed portions of the road, regardless of whether there appears to be active construction. It is unlawful to move or manipulate construction signs and doing so can put commuters and construction workers at great risk.
