The Ada County Highway District (ACHD) is widening the Five Mile Road overpass and roadway between Franklin Road and Overland Road. The project includes:

  • Widening Five Mile Road from Overland Road to Franklin Road to two lanes in each direction with a center turn lane.
  • Replacing the existing overpass spanning Interstate 84 with a wider structure, with two lanes in each direction and a multi-use pathway on each side, to accommodate additional interstate width in the future.
  • Adding curb, gutter and a detached multi-use pathway for pedestrians and bicyclists.
  • Adding enhanced pedestrian crossings on Five Mile at Saranac Dr. and Martingale Dr.
  • Updating the existing pedestrian hybrid beacon crossing at Five Mile Road and Smoke Ranch Drive.
  • Making upgrades at the intersections of Overland Road and Franklin Road to accommodate Five Mile Road changes.
