The Ada County Highway District (ACHD) is designing improvements to reconstruct the intersection at Pierce Park Lane and Hill Road to a single-lane roundabout. Plans include multi-use paths and enhanced crossings (RRFB) at all four legs, as well as removing and replacing the existing bridge over the Farmers Union Canal.

Originally, part of the Pierce Park Lane, Lucky Lane to Hill Road Project, the intersection is now a separate project.

Why are we redesigning this intersection?

It comes down to the bridge. The bridge underneath the Pierce Park and Hill Road intersection is aging. The structure is showing corrosion, cracks, and general wear that, while normal for its age, means it is recommended for replacement.

Since replacing the bridge means tearing up the intersection anyway, it made sense to go ahead and rebuild the intersection to its long-term configuration at the same time.
