Starting as early as March, the Ada County Highway District (ACHD) will begin construction on the State Street and 21st Street Pedestrian Crossing project. The purpose of this project is to improve safety and increase connectivity for pedestrians. Construction is expected to be complete late summer of 2025.*

Project Description

  • Install an enhanced pedestrian crossing at State Street and 21st Street
  • Improve pavement markings
  • Install bulb-outs and reconstruct adjacent pedestrian ramps to meet modern standards
  • Update streetlights for enhanced visibility and safety
  • Widen sidewalks on the north side of State Street, 21st Street, and Pleasanton Avenue to improve accessibility and functionality

Construction Impacts

  • Temporary road closures
  • Pedestrian detours and sidewalk closures
  • Lane restrictions with flaggers
  • General construction noise, dust, equipment backup alarms and ground vibration
  • Crews will work from 7 a.m. to 7 p.m. unless otherwise approved
  • The contractor will work with property owners and businesses to minimize impacts
