The Ada County Highway District (ACHD) is designing improvements for Ustick Road between Owyhee Storm Avenue and Black Cat Road. The purpose of the project is to increase motorist, pedestrian, and bicyclist safety, as well as, improve current and future traffic flow.
Ustick, Owyhee Storm to Black Cat
Widen Ustick Road to two lanes in each direction, with a center turn lane and median islands where the center turn lane is not needed for access
Construct curb and gutter and a detached 10-foot-wide multi-use pathway with buffer on both sides of the roadway for pedestrians and bicyclists
Install medians islands to calm traffic and provide access control where necessary
Reduce speed limit to 35 mph
Ustick and McDermott
In cooperation with the Idaho Transportation Department (ITD) State Highway 16 Improvements Project, ACHD will widen the Ustick and McDermott Road intersection to include:
Additional through lanes
Dedicated right and left turn lanes on Ustick Road and dedicated left turn lanes on McDermott
Curb, gutter, and multi-use pathways
McDermott Road is being realigned by ITD as part of their SH-16 extension project. ACHD will widen the Ustick and McDermott intersection at its new location.
Ustick and Owyhee Storm
As part of this project, ACHD will also be updating the intersection of Ustick and Owyhee Storm Avenue. The proposed design includes:
Dedicated right and left turn lanes
Curb, gutter, and multi-use pathways
We understand that there has been substantial road construction and development in the area recently, particularly with the addition of ITD’s SH-16 project. As a result, we have been actively coordinating and scheduling our efforts to ensure that Ustick Road remains open to the fullest extent possible during construction.
