This project is substantially complete.

The Ada County Highway District (ACHD) will be constructing improvements to the State Street and 16th Street intersection and State Street from east of 4th Street to 2nd Street starting as early as late late March.* Work is expected to be complete by Summer 2024.

Project Description

  • Reconstruct both the State Street & 16th Street intersection and State St., east of 4th Street to 2nd Street
  • Complete traffic signal work at State Street & 16th Street
  • Add bioretention curb extensions and updated pedestrian ramps to both segments of State Street
  • As part of this project, ACHD will also be adding dual enhanced pedestrian crossings with bike push buttons across State Street at 3rd Street

Traffic and Construction Impacts

  • When the street isn’t closed, traffic flow will be prioritized during heavy commute times in the mornings and evenings. Crews will work 9 a.m.- 4 p.m. during the day and 8 p.m.-5 a.m. at night.
  • Night and weekend work is to be expected.
  • Crews may work 24 hours a day when blocks are fully closed, though night work will be evaluated for each location and must be pre-approved by ACHD.
  • One travel lane in each direction will remain open unless the street segment is completely closed.
  • Temporary pedestrian and bicyclist detours.
  • Temporary on-street parking impacts.
  • General construction noise, including equipment backup alarms, dust and ground vibration.
  • The contractor will coordinate with property and business owners to maintain access or provide alternative access.

*The construction schedule could change due to contractor staffing issues and supply-chain shortages.
