Collister Drive Project, State Street to Hill Road

ACHD has been working with the Collister Drive neighborhood, between State Street and Hill Road, since 2021 to determine what improvements we should consider to improve Collister Drive for all users.

The Commission adopted the study in 2022 and ACHD is starting design in January 2024. The design will include:

• New pavement to improve vehicle travel
• A buffered multi-use pathway on the east side
• Attached 6’ sidewalk on the west side with multi-use pathways on both sides of Collister between Catalpa Drive and John’s Landing Way
• Rectangular rapid flashing beacons (RRFBs) north of the alley access to the Collister Shopping Mall and at the intersection of John’s Landing Way and Collister Drive
• Intersection lighting at improved intersection locations
• Sidewalks along the north side of John’s Landing, Maplewood Dr to Collister Dr and on the south side of Hill Rd, Maplewood Dr to Collister Dr
• Permeable pavers installed along portions of the west side on-street parking
• Two 10.5’ travel lanes
• Bioretention curb extensions added at locations throughout the corridor
• Replacing the canal crossing south of Hadlock St

Construction is scheduled for late 2028-2029.
