Construction to start as early as the end of May

The Ada County Highway District (ACHD) will be building a mini-roundabout at the Rose Hill and Owyhee intersection, as well as updating Rose Hill between Roosevelt and Vista with temporary traffic calming features. The goal of both projects is to slow down traffic and improve the street for all users. Construction will start as early as late May 2024* and completion is expected Fall 2024.


Project Description

  • Construct a mini-roundabout at the Rose Hill and Owyhee intersection with Rectangular Rapid Flashing Beacons (RRFB) at each pedestrian crossing.
  • After chip sealing Rose Hill Street, temporarily reallocate street space and remove center turn lane (in most areas) to provide:
    • Bike lanes on both sides of the street, with vertical elements and painted buffers.
    • On-street parking on one side of the street, except between Latah Street and Owyhee Street, alternating sides of the street to help slow traffic.

  • Temporary pedestrian detours.
  • On-street parking impacts.
  • Lane restrictions with flaggers.
  • General construction noise, including equipment backup alarms, dust and ground vibration.
  • The contractor will coordinate with property and business owners to maintain access or provide alternative access.
