Taft Street Concept Design, Sycamore Drive to 36th Street
ACHD has heard that this section of Taft Street needs traffic calming measures and better bicycle and pedestrian connectivity. Based on this feedback ACHD has initiated a study to develop and evaluate alternatives to improve Taft Street for all users. ACHD wants to work collaboratively with the neighborhood to determine the appropriate improvements. We are starting with a blank slate, and want your input on possible solutions.

Temporary Speed Cushions
Share Temporary Speed Cushions on Facebook Share Temporary Speed Cushions on Twitter Share Temporary Speed Cushions on Linkedin Email Temporary Speed Cushions linkAs part of the May adoption, the ACHD Commission directed staff to install temporary traffic calming measures on Taft Street between Sycamore Drive and 36th Street. As a result, ACHD will be installing several temporary speed cushions on this section of Taft Street this fall. Please note that these are only an interim solution until we can design and construct the concept that was approved by the Commission.
As far as next steps, we anticipate starting design in 2027/2028 and a construction year has not been scheduled at this time.
