The Ada County Highway District (ACHD) will be reconstructing several streets in Ada County as part of a federal aid project to improve pavement conditions and upgrade the streets for all users.

Work could include:

  • Reconstructing streets or removing and replacing pavement to improve roadway conditions
  • Filling in sidewalk gaps to increase connectivity
  • Installing Accessible Pedestrian Signals (APS) and pedestrian push buttons.
  • Upgrading and/or installing pedestrian ramps to meet modern standards and the Americans with Disabilities Act (ADA).

Street Segments

  • Allumbaugh Street, Douglas Street to Fairmont Street- Reconstruct roadway; replace existing pedestrian ramps and driveway approaches to meet modern standards; install new sidewalk in existing gaps; reset existing Rapid Rectangular Flashing Beacon (RRFB)
  • Edgewood Lane, Harvey Street to Floating Feather Road- Remove and replace pavement; replace existing pedestrian ramps and driveway approaches to meet modern standards; install new Pedestrian Hybrid Beacon (PHB) at Floating Feather Road pedestrian crossing; rebuild existing speed humps
  • Goldenrod Avenue, West End to Cloverdale Road- Remove and replace pavement; replace existing pedestrian ramps and driveway approaches to meet modern standards; install new sidewalk in existing gaps; install new Pedestrian Hybrid Beacon (PHB) at Cloverdale Road pedestrian crossing

    ACHD will begin pipe work on the following segments in late January 2025:

    • Allumbaugh Street, Douglas Street to Fairmont Street
    • Goldenrod Avenue, West End to Cloverdale Road

    The pipe work is expected to be completed by late March 2025, with crews starting on other parts of the project as early as April 2025.

    Expected Construction Impacts:

    • Temporary road and lane closures
    • Pedestrian detours and sidewalk closures
    • Lane restrictions
    • General construction noise, dust, equipment backup alarms and ground vibration
    • Temporary on-street parking impacts
    • Crews will work from 7 a.m. to 7 p.m. unless otherwise approved
    • The contractor will work with property owners to minimize impacts and maintain access

    Emergency access will be accommodated if the need arises.

    • Cole Road, Ustick Road to Kettering Avenue
    • Orchard Street, Emerald Street to Fairview Avenue
