The Ada County Highway District is designing changes for Vista Avenue between Overland Road and Rose Hill Street to make the street more comfortable for all our neighbors.
Why are these changes needed?
The current sidewalks are too narrow and don’t meet the needs of neighbors who use wheelchairs, scooters, canes or walkers.
The existing traffic signals are outdated and need pedestrian safety improvements.
The asphalt is aging and needs to be replaced.
The changes to Vista Avenue will mostly stay within the existing street width, minimizing impacts to properties and trees.
Project Description
- Widen sidewalks and update pedestrian ramps to meet the needs of everyone.
- Replace outdated traffic signals with new signals that include features to increase pedestrian safety.
- Remove the free-running right at Vista Ave. and Overland Rd. and replace with a traditional right-turn lane.
- Repave the aging street.
- Add space for bike and scooter parking at Valley Regional Transit bus stops.
- Install bulb-outs on select side streets.
- Make adjustments to the Vista Ave. and Rose Hill intersection.
- Narrow vehicle lanes.
