The Ada County Highway District (ACHD) will begin repair work in mid-July on the east leg of the Rose Hill and Owyhee roundabout to address a drainage issue. Construction is expected to last approximately one month.*

Why the fix?

Water has been pooling in this area due to outdated design standards, construction survey errors, and a lack of proper drainage when the roundabout was originally built.

What's the solution?

ACHD will install a seepage bed to improve stormwater drainage and prevent future pooling.

Construction Impacts

  • The east leg of the intersection will be closed for the duration of the work
  • Pedestrian detours and sidewalk closures
  • General construction noise, dust, equipment backup alarms and ground vibration
  • Crews will work from 7 a.m. to 7 p.m. unless otherwise approved
  • The contractor will work with property owners to minimize impacts

The Ada County Highway District (ACHD) will be building a mini-roundabout at the Rose Hill and Owyhee intersection, as well as updating Rose Hill between Roosevelt and Vista with temporary traffic calming features. The goal of both projects is to slow down traffic and improve the street for all users. Construction will start as early as late May 2024* and completion is expected Fall 2024.

    Project Description

    • Construct a mini-roundabout at the Rose Hill and Owyhee intersection with Rectangular Rapid Flashing Beacons (RRFB) at each pedestrian crossing.
    • After chip sealing Rose Hill Street, temporarily reallocate street space and remove center turn lane (in most areas) to provide:
      • Bike lanes on both sides of the street, with vertical elements and painted buffers.
      • On-street parking on one side of the street, except between Latah Street and Owyhee Street, alternating sides of the street to help slow traffic.

    Traffic and Construction Impacts

    • Temporary pedestrian detours.
    • On-street parking impacts.
    • Lane restrictions with flaggers.
    • General construction noise, including equipment backup alarms, dust and ground vibration.
    • The contractor will coordinate with property and business owners to maintain access or provide alternative access.
    • Utility work
