This project is substantially complete. 

  • Reconstruct State Street between 8th and 4th streets.
  • Upgrade all three traffic signals on this section of State St.
  • Construct bulb-outs for shorter pedestrian crossings and better visibility.
  • Add vegetated bioretention facilities for stormwater treatment.
  • Upgrade the existing enhanced crosswalk behind the Idaho State Capitol building to an overhead Rectangular Rapid Flashing Beacon.

    An unforeseen utility conflict has been found at the State Street and 8th Street intersection. It is anticipated to take two months for the utility’s contractor to resolve. ACHD construction crews will now focus on the east end of the project.

    The State Street and 4th Street intersection will be paved first and then paving will continue moving west.

    As the intersections are paved, ACHD plans to open them to north/south traffic.

    • Fiber swap is scheduled for the weekend of July 20th.
    • Contractor completed demo on State and 8th this week.
    • Excavation started this week, on the north side, in preparation for base materials.
