Eagle Road, Lake Hazel to Amity Project Begins
Next Week
ADA COUNTY — Work will begin next week on ACHD’s Eagle Road, Lake Hazel Road to Amity Road project.
Starting Monday, the intersection of Eagle and Lake Hazel Roads will be closed. Eagle Road will also be closed between Lake Hazel Road and Taconic Drive.
For the first phase of construction, the intersection at Eagle and Taconic will remain open. Construction at the Eagle and Taconic intersection is scheduled for summer 2025.
During construction, temporary stop signs will be installed at several local intersections along Taconic Drive and Arable Drive. Non-local traffic should use Amity Road to the north, Columbia Road to the south, Locust Grove Road to the west, and Cloverdale Road to the east to get around the closures.
The roadwork is part of ACHD’s Eagle Road, Lake Hazel Road to Amity Road project, which includes widening and signalizing the intersection of Eagle and Lake Hazel, installing a multi-lane roundabout at Eagle and Taconic, widening Eagle Road, and adding a multi-use pathway for bicyclists and pedestrians. The entire project is expected to be complete in November 2025.
Residents can learn more and sign up for project updates on ACHD’s website.

In December, ACHD awarded the bid for the project, with construction scheduled to begin in February. However, before construction began, it was discovered that a designated electrical subcontractor associated with the project was improperly licensed when the contractor accepted the subcontractor’s bid and when the contractor named the subcontractor in its bid to ACHD. This statutory violation caused the contractor’s bid to be unresponsive and void, and therefore the contract between ACHD and the contractor, to be void.
On Wednesday, February 14, the ACHD Board of Commissioners voted to re-bid the project, which will happen in the coming months. A new construction start date will be announced after the project’s new bid is awarded.
