Share Construction to start January 2025 on Facebook Share Construction to start January 2025 on Twitter Share Construction to start January 2025 on Linkedin Email Construction to start January 2025 linkThe Ada County Highway District (ACHD) will be reconstructing the State Street and Pierce Park intersection starting at the beginning of January 2025*. Work is expected to be complete in Spring 2026.
What to Expect
- State Street Traffic: Two lanes in each direction will remain open; Left turns within the construction zone won’t be allowed to keep things moving smoothly; State Street will have daytime closures, but only outside the busiest commute times.
- Pierce Park Lane Restrictions: At the State Street intersection some lanes will be restricted.
- Pedestrians and Bike Routes: Detours will be in place to keep pedestrians and bicyclists moving safely.
- Night work and Construction Activity: Some night work is to be expected for safety. Expect general construction noise, including equipment backup alarms, dust and ground vibration.
- Business Access: Access to businesses will stay open, and the contractor will work with property and business owners to keep entrances clear or provide alternate accesses.

Project Background
The State Street Corridor has been studied for several years. ACHD and partnering agencies/jurisdictions have evaluated deficiencies along State Street, developed guidelines encouraging transit-supportive land uses, and identified prioritized transit and traffic improvements. The State Street Transit and Traffic Operation Plan served as the basis for the State Street and Pierce Park intersection improvements. In 2017, the ACHD Commission adopted the State Street and Pierce Park Lane Concept Study. ACHD finalized the design in 2019. In 2020, the ACHD Commission voted to delay the project and work on a redesign to shift the project north. In 2021, the project was restarted to incorporate the northern shift.
