This project is substantially complete. 

The Ada County Highway District (ACHD) will be reconstructing several streets in Ada County as part of a federal aid project to improve pavement conditions and upgrade the streets for all users.

Work could include:

  • Reconstructing streets or removing and replacing pavement to improve roadway conditions
  • Filling in sidewalk gaps to increase connectivity
  • Adding bulb-outs and signalized pedestrian crossings where appropriate to improve safety
  • Installing Accessible Pedestrian Signals (APS) and pedestrian push buttons.
  • Upgrading and/or installing pedestrian ramps to meet modern standards and the Americans with Disabilities Act (ADA).

Street Segments:

  • 9th St., Idaho St. to Bannock St. - Replace existing asphalt with concrete; install pedestrian bulb outs; replace existing pedestrian ramps; replace existing driveway approaches and traffic signals.
  • 20th St., Lemp St. to Irene St. - Reconstruct roadway; replace existing pedestrian ramps; replace damaged sidewalk
  • Amity Rd., Enterprise St. to Production St. - Reconstruct roadway
  • Bluegrass Ave., Ellen's Ferry Dr. to Castle Dr. - Remove and replace pavement; install bulb-outs; replace existing pedestrian ramps
  • Castle Hill Way, Castle Dr. to Drawbridge Dr. - Remove and replace pavement; install bulb-outs; replace existing pedestrian ramps; replace existing driveway approach
  • Drawbridge Dr., West End to Castle Hill Way - Remove and replace pavement; install bulb-outs; replace existing pedestrian ramps
  • Enterprise St., Amity Rd. to Commerce Ave. - Reconstruct roadway; replace existing pedestrian ramp
  • Maple Grove Rd., I-84 Bridge to Franklin Rd. - Remove and replace pavement; install a pedestrian hybrid beacon at Maple Grove and Shoup; replace existing pedestrian ramps
  • Morris Hill Rd., west of Liberty St. to Hartman St. - Reconstruct roadway; replace existing pedestrian ramps
  • Roosevelt St., Emerald St. to Irving St. - Remove and replace pavement; install bulb-outs; replace existing pedestrian ramps; install new sidewalk to fill gaps; replace existing driveway approaches; rebuild existing speed humps
  • Spaulding St., Phillippi St. to Orchard St. - Reconstruct roadway; install bulb-outs; replace existing pedestrian ramps; rebuild existing speed humps
  • Turret Way, Drawbridge Dr. to Castle Dr. - Reconstruct roadway; install bulb-outs; replace existing pedestrian ramps

Commuters are reminded to obey all road closure signs and follow the signs along the detour route. Commuters should never attempt to drive, bike, or walk on closed portions of the road, regardless of whether there appears to be active construction. It is unlawful to move or manipulate construction signs and doing so can put commuters and construction workers at great risk.

    Maple Grove Road, I-84 Overpass to Franklin Road

    • Asphalt paving is complete.
    • One lane in each direction was opened on June 7th.
    • Remaining work will be on-going through June 21st
    • Remaining work includes manhole adjustments and permanent pavement markings.
    • The pedestrian signal at Shoup was activated on June 11th.

    • Remaining work will be on-going through June 21st and includes manhole adjustments, permanent pavement markings, and activation of the pedestrian signal at Shoup.

    • Remaining work includes concrete curing, sealing joints, installation of pavement markings, and traffic signal installation/activation. Some work is weather dependent.
    • Anticipate opening the road at least partially on May 3rd.
