The Ada County Highway District (ACHD) will be reconstructing Ustick Road between Black Cat Road and Ten Mile Road. The purpose of this project is to improve traffic flow and increase safety for all users.

Ustick, Black Cat to Ten Mile

  • Widen Ustick Road to two lanes in each direction, with center turn lanes or center medians at key locations.
  • Construct curb, gutter, and a 10-foot-wide multi-use pathway with a safety buffer on both sides of the roadway for pedestrian and bicyclists.
  • Add a traffic signal at Naomi Avenue.
  • Install an enhanced pedestrian crossing across Ustick Road at the Nine Mile Pathway.
  • Upgrade stormwater facilities and replace irrigation pipes.

Ustick and Black Cat Intersection

  • Widen the Ustick Road and Black Cat Road intersection to include additional through lanes.
  • Add dedicated right and left turn lanes on all approaches.
  • Install curb, gutter, and multi-use pathways.

    • Ustick remains open: Traffic has been shifted onto new pavement on the north side of Ustick – one lane in each direction remains open. Irrigation and seepage bed installation is nearly complete – waiting for south Black Cat access to finish. Eightmile and Ninemile irrigation: o Irrigation work started again on October 20th at both Eightmile and Ninemile. The remaining precast box sections for Eightmile are planning to be delivered end of October. Curb and gutter and sidewalk placements ongoing on the north/south side of Ustick.
    • Asphalt paving portions of the north side of Ustick complete (bottom lift only).
    • City of Meridian sewer line installation continues near Black Cat, on the south side of Ustick. Waiting on irrigation work to complete before sewer and water can be completed.
    • Excavation activities are complete on the south side of Ustick.
    • Grade prep on the south side of Ustick ongoing.
    • Concrete paving south side of Ustick and Black Cat started October 8th and is on-going.

    • Eightmile irrigation: o Irrigation is complete for the season. Irrigation work, apart from Ninemile, is nearly complete in preparation for the City’s sewer bypass.
    • Rutledge has been sleeved for sewer line install.
    • Curb and gutter and sidewalk placements ongoing on the north/south side of Ustick.
    • Contractor is focusing on the Naomi intersection. School has been notified that the intersection will not be open by the start of School. Targeting the end of August or early September for reopening.
    • Seepage bed install at Naomi is complete.
    • Prepping for curb gutter sidewalk for placements this week.
    • Intersection will be reopened on Tuesday, 9/2, before school starts.
